Dear University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

Dear University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust,

Thank you for the partial response. Unfortunately you haven't quite answered my question.

I asked specifically for the spend attributable to the provision of complimentary services. Hiding it amongst legitimate conventional spend is unhelpful. It's almost as if you don't want to admit it.

Therefore, please remove all spend attributable to the provision of real medicine from these figures, so I can more easily identify how much money is being wasted on quackery.

Thank you.

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Dear Mr Fulton,

Thank you for your request for an internal review regarding your request
FOI/2015/236.  In your  original request you asked for:

 1. Which CCGs hold a contract with you for the provision of complementary
'medicine' at the RLHIM and what are the value of each of these
contracts.

 2. Please provide the data broken down by trust and financial year, since
the inception of CCGs on 1 April 2013.

We explained that we were unable to provide you with costs relating to
only complementary services.  You then asked for an internal review.  We
have looked again at the information that you requested but we are still
unable to provide you with separate costs.  Please see our response below.

Internal Review: I asked specifically for the spend attributable to the
provision of complementary services.  Hiding it amongst legitimate
conventional spend is unhelpful. Therefore, please remove all spend
attributable to the provision of real medicine from these figures.

The following is a list of treatment ‘services’ provided at the RLHIM:

•           Acupuncture Services

•           Adult Allergy Service

•           Allergy Service

•           Chronic Fatigue Service

•           Children’s Service

•           Complementary Cancer Care Service

•           Fibromyalgia Syndrome Service

•           General Medicine Service

•           Hypnosis Service

•           Insomnia Service

•           Irritable Bowel Syndrome Service

•           Musculoskeletal Medicine Service

•           Nutrition and Dietetics

•           Podiatry Service

•           Rheumatology Service

•           Skin Service

•           Psychological Services

•           Weight Loss Service

•           Women’s Service

We understand that the clarification requested is to separate income for
conventional medicine and complementary medicine. However the contract
transactions are for a single payment category which is not split by
service type or components. We have already provided the list of services
delivered at RLHIM through the contracts listed. They integrate
conventional and complementary medicines in varying proportions. All are
delivered by the RLHIM clinical team.

Because contract activity is recorded under a single category, it is not
possible to put activity figures against individual services without going
back to patient level records, which would exceed the appropriate limit as
set out in the FOI Act. Even then it would not be possible to split out
the different components of treatment for individual patients and assess
which part of the income is for which since that is not how the contract
works.

We believe we have now fully answered your request.  However, if you are
still unsatisfied then please contact:
