Dear Ms Thomas

Thank you for your request for information, our reference BFR000102.

Your request has now been considered and the information can be found below. Please note the requested clarification on the fourth point below.

• What was the number of people in temporary accommodation organised by the council in each of the years from 2010-2018? (see attached)
• How many of those in temporary accommodation were children in each of the years from 2010 to 2018? (see attached)
• How many of those in temporary accommodation were children in each of the years from 2010-2018? (see above)
• What was the average length of time a family spent in temporary accommodation in each of the years from 2010-2018?
Can you provide more clarity on this question.? Do you want to look at households who spent time in TA during each requested year regardless of when tenancy started or ended? What about tenancies that started during any of the years we are looking at but are ongoing?
• How many people were placed in B&B accommodation in each of the years from 2010-2018? (see attached)
• How many people were given temporary accommodation outside of the council area in each of the years from 2010-2018? (see attached)
• How many children were given temporary accommodation outside the council area in each of the years from 2010-2018? (See attached)
• What is the average cost per night paid by the council for temporary accommodation in each of the years from 2010-2018?
Data is only available for the years 15/16, 16/17, 17/18. To extract the data from earlier years will require a manual process. We estimate that the cost of complying with the request by undergoing the manual process of extracting this information would exceed the appropriate limit. Therefore, under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, we are not obliged to comply with the request. The appropriate limit is set out in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004. As stated in regulation 3, this is £450, and as stated in regulation 4, the hourly rate used to calculate the cost is £25.

If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request an internal review of our decision, you should write to the Communications section, Broxbourne Borough Council, Bishops’ College, Churchgate, Cheshunt, EN8 9XQ.
If your complaint is not resolved to your complete satisfaction, you have the right to apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Further information about your rights is available from the Information Commissioner at: Information Commissioner's Office Wycliffe House Water Lane Wilmslow Cheshire SK9 5AF; Telephone: 0303 123 1113 or 01625 545745; Website www.ico.org.uk
