Homelessness: Housing Benefit Costs/ Average Per Person, Per Year in homeless/ temporary accommodation.

We're waiting for James Barclay to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Glasgow City Council,

I would like information on the cost of housing benefit for all homeless and temporary accommodation used by Glasgow City Council for the year 2016/ 17. In addition, I would like to know how many 'beds' were used for the same period throughout all homeless accommodation.

I would like a full breakdown of the number of beds currently used as accommodation for people affected by homelessness, including bed and breakfasts, hostel accommodation, Bellgrove Hotel and other private hotels, supported accommodation, temporary furnished flats, RSL's and all other types of accommodation used.

I would like a full breakdown of the cost of housing benefit paid to each type of accommodation. For example, cost of housing benefit for bed and breakfasts used, hostels, supported accommodation, temporary furnished flats, and all other type of accommodation used.

I would like to know what the average cost per person per year of housing benefit for people staying in the above types of accommodation.

- I understand that there are approximately 1500+ temporary furnished flats (TFF's)used by Glasgow City Council, and would like to know the amount of Housing Benefit claimed in the year 2016/17 for all TFF's. I would also like to know the exact number of TFF's available during 2016/17, and the number of TFF's available at the time of writing. I would like to know the average cost of housing benefit per temporary furnished flat, per year for 2016/17.

- I would like to know exactly how many people presented as homeless in 2016/17, and a full breakdown of what the outcomes of all these cases who presented as homeless in 2016/17 were.

- I would like to know what the average length of time was that people spent in temporary and homelessness accommodation during 2016/17.

- I would like to know what percentage of people staying in temporary accommodation/ homeless accommodation were offered their own mainstream council tenancies during 2016/17.

HOUSING OPTIONS

- I would like to know how many Housing Options applications were made in 2016/17. In addition, I would like to know where people were staying immediately prior to their Housing Options applications were made.

- I would like to know how long people waited for their first offer of accommodation after applying using Housing Options. I.e. The average length of time it took for applicants to be offered their own mainstream tenancies.

Yours faithfully,

James Barclay.
