Dear Harris, Caroline (Administrative Support Assistant),
Thanks you for your reply.
Can I get some clarification on some points?
"The Council's current budget for homeless and related services amounts to
£1,569,496. This covers the provision of staff costs, general operational
costs, costs around the provision of temporary accommodation and costs
associated with homelessness prevention work and activities."
The figure quoted here (£1.5million-ish). Is that a net or gross figure? If it's a net figure, does that mean the amount budgeted has doubled since last year? The excel spreadsheet shows the 16/17 figure as being £756,273.00 - about half the figure given for the current budget.
Could you also clarify exactly what the acronyms mean in the spreadsheet?
Yours sincerely,
Sam Ferguson
Good Morning

Dear Mr Ferguson
Please see below answer to your recent request.
"The Council has provided additional resources to support homelessness within the City following Welsh Government providing resources within the overall settlement figure that were in relation to the prevention of homelessness. The Council took the decision to divert this funding for this purpose despite there being no requirement as such to do so. In addition, funding was also provided regarding the provision of temporary accommodation, namely the PSL scheme which relates to the provision of private sector leased accommodation. This provides the increase shown and this is a net budget figure and does show an overspend on the year
The abbreviations are as follows:
TASA - Temporary Accommodation Support and Advocacy - This is a small tenancy support team aimed at preventing homelessness through crisis intervention work B&B - This relates to the Bed and Breakfast accommodation PSL - This relates to the Private Sector Leased scheme - provides temporary accommodation for homeless households
The other headings relate to the specific staff teams and within this sit the general budgets for each team.
Thank you
