Home Status Outcome
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am quite unsure of my wording but would like to request the following information:
In each of the academic years beginning 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and up to the present day,
1. How many cases/complaints have there been where a student or incoming student has been considered a 'home fee status student' by the University but not by the government?
2. How many complaints have been made by a student or incoming student about not being considered a 'home fee status student' by the government?
3. Has the University offered financial support to students who cannot access financial support from the government? If so, how many students and what is the totalling amount of financial aid in the academic year?
4. How many complaints have been made regarding difficulty or problems accessing government financial support? (e.g from SFE or SAAS)
Please let me know if I can clarify anything or if you have any advice!
Hope you have a nice weekend.
Yours faithfully,
Hannah Kershaw

Dear Hannah Kershaw
Thank you for your recent request. This has been assigned the reference number IMPS#03777.
This is to acknowledge receipt and to ask you for some clarification, please.
When you ask "how many cases / complaints..." what do you mean by 'cases / complaints', what are 'cases'?
And, by 'complaints' are you seeking information related to specific types of complaints (for example; complaints related to enrolment, student misconduct), or referring to complaints dealt with by specific departments (Admissions, Student Complaints & Academic Misconduct, Community Outreach Team)?
The University is structured in such a way that stage 0 and 1 complaints, as per the Student Complaints Procedure, are dealt with informally at local departmental level therefore there is no central record. So, depending on the scope of your request we may need to contact several departments. Stage 2 complaints are dealt with by the Student Complaints and Academic Misconduct team which maintain their own records. If you could clarify what types of information you are seeking it would help us to establish whether we hold the information requested.
Please be aware that if compliance with your request would be estimated to exceed the appropriate costs limit established by section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, we may not be able to determine whether we hold the requested information.
Your request is on hold pending receipt of this clarification.
Yours sincerely,
Sinead Latham
