Dear Mr. Tipler,
Environmental Information Regulations – Advice & Assistance
Thank you for your request for information on 19 September which is being
considered under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR).
Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding to you.
You have asked for the holding number of a specific address.
From our preliminary assessment, it is clear that we will not be able to
answer your request without further clarification. Regulation 9 of EIR
requires public authorities to provide advice and assistance to applicants
What you need to do
For your information, County Parish Holding (CPH) numbers are allocated to
a person/business based on the main holding and land is recorded under it,
for claim purposes when a Rural Land And Entitlements Form is submitted by
a customer. A CPH number covers the location of the land, rather than the
correspondence address it is registered against, which may be different.
For example a CPH number could be issued to an address in Kent, for a farm
in Yorkshire. Therefore if a CPH number has been issued against the
address identified in your letter, it may not necessarily be for that
So that we can identify and locate the exact information you require,
please could you provide:
* Name(s) of a person or persons that the CPH may be registered to
* A date range for your request. For example, a CPH registration from
Once we have received the above information, we will be able to proceed
with your request and advise whether we can provide the information.
Please note that the 20 working day timescale for responding to your
request will commence from the date that we receive the clarification.
