Dear Birmingham City Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Birmingham City Council's handling of my FOI request 'HMO density by ward'.

I do not believe that this information is not held by Birmingham. It is a legal requirement to keep a publicly accessible register of all HMOs. It is inconceivable that Birmingham do not know approximately how many residential properties are in their wards. It should be very easy to combine the two and answer my request.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/h...

Yours faithfully,

P White

Dear Birmingham City Council,

Just to follow up my previous email asking for an Internal Review, I have just checked my notes and you did provide me with the ward and numbers of HMOs, but the issue was that you claim not to keep approximate numbers of residential properties in a ward. It is just this figure that I need for Bournbrook ward in order to work out the density. My apologies for my error.

Yours sincerely,

P White

Dear P White

The Private Rented Service Area have responded with the following:-
"Bournbrook is not a stand alone ward.  The ward is Bournbrook and Selly
Park and the information is only collected on a ward basis so we are
unable to split."

We are sorry we cannot help further.

Kind regards

Dear Birmingham City Council,

I'm sorry, that was my fault for not being clearer. I meant Bournbrook and Selly Park ward, I was being lazy and not typing the ward name in full because I assumed that you'd understand what I meant, having the context of this FOI request. I just need the approximate number of residential properties in Bournbrook and Selly Park and I can work out the density myself based on the information you've already provided.

Yours sincerely,

P White
