History of Armed Forces visits to schools

This request has been withdrawn by the person who made it. There may be an explanation in the correspondence below.

Dear Ministry of Defence,

In what year did the Armed Forces start to visit UK schools and colleges to do the sort of activities that they currently do (presentations, interviews, careers day stalls, curriculum support, outdoor teamwork exercises, etc)?

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,
Owen Everett

Dear MoD FOI team,

Thank you for getting back to me.

As you are unable to say when Armed Forces visits to schools and colleges began, please can you tell me the year that your records on these visits go back to?

I would also like to have a copy of any MoD documentation (statistics, evaluations etc) of the visits from that year.

Yours sincerely,

Owen Everett

Dear MoD FOI team,

I would also like to know whether members of the Armed Forces visiting schools and colleges tend to be those who have recently finished basic training (i.e. those who have not deployed to a war zone)?

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Owen Everett

Dear Mr Everett,

Please find attached response to your FOI request of 11 December
2013-12-17

Defence Personnel Secretariat

Dear Pers Trg-Sec-Parly Gp Mailbox (MULTIUSER),

I am not clear what information/records the Army, Navy, and RAF are referring to - I simply want to know the first year that their records of visits to schools date from, and I requested a copy of any MoD documentation (statistics, evaluations etc) of the visits from that year.

I do not accept that the Army does not have records from before 2011-2: they have provided data from at least the previous year (2010-11) through other FOI requests (see for example https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...).

Please can you clarify that we are talking about the same information, and explain why it is not possible for the Army and Navy to provide it?

You seem to have overlooked the third part of my FOI request: 'I would also like to know whether members of the Armed Forces visiting schools and colleges tend to be those who have recently finished basic training
(i.e. those who have not deployed to a war zone)?'

I would be very grateful if you were to reply by tomorrow, so I can decide whether to settle for the RAF information for the West Region alone before the Christmas holidays. (incidentally, can you tell me what the other regions are? Just North, South, and East?)

This should be easy to answer for each of the forces.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you,
Owen.

Dear Defence Personnel Secretariat,

I am formally withdrawing this request, though I suspect that you, like me, have considered it withdrawn given that it has been inactive for over a year and a half.

Yours sincerely,
Owen Everett
