Dear Nottinghamshire County Council,

Under the general requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would be grateful if you would provide the following information in relation to the B6019, Kirkby Lane from the county boundary to Pinxton Lane:
1) Dates of all safety inspections undertaken on the carriageway of the B6019 from July 2012 to July 2014.
2) Details of all carriageway defects identified on the B6019 during these safety inspections.
3) Details of how carriageway safety inspections are undertaken on the B6019, including whether walked or driven, the speed of the inspection vehicle and the number of persons in the vehicle.
4) The intended frequency of carriageway safety inspections for the B6019.
5) The hierarchy classification of the B6019.
6) Details of all carriageway maintenance interventions on the B6019 from July 2012 to July 2014.
And in general:
7) The defect intervention criteria adopted in relation to the identification of all categories of carriageway potholes.
8) The time period(s) adopted between identification and repair (temporary and permanent) of all categories of carriageway defects.
9) Whether or not Notts CC has formally adopted all or part of the standards contained within the national code of practice for highways maintenance management (e.g. Well Maintained Highways).

I am writing to you in reply to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
request to Nottinghamshire County Council. I have the following
information.

 

1) Dates of all safety inspections undertaken on the carriageway of the
B6019 from July 2012 to July 2014.

Please note that the report contains some personal information about
individuals, and in accordance with Section 40(2) of FOIA, this has been
redacted from the document.

 

2) Details of all carriageway defects identified on the B6019 during these
safety inspections.

See the attached street history report.

 

3) Details of how carriageway safety inspections are undertaken on the
B6019, including whether walked or driven, the speed of the inspection
vehicle and the number of persons in the vehicle.

Safety inspections are carried out from a slow moving vehicle with 2
people in the vehicle.

 

4) The intended frequency of carriageway safety inspections for the B6019.

Monthly

 

5) The hierarchy classification of the B6019.

3b Secondary Distributor

 

6) Details of all carriageway maintenance interventions on the B6019 from
July 2012 to July 2014.

7) The defect intervention criteria adopted in relation to the
identification of all categories of carriageway potholes.

All categories: potholes greater than 40mm.

 

8) The time period(s) adopted between identification and repair (temporary
and permanent) of all categories of carriageway defects.

There are 3 categories of defects: Cat. 1, Cat. 2 (high), Cat.2 (low). 
The defects will be repaired with the following timescales:

Cat.1 - Making safe within 24 hours and a permanent repair within 28 days;

Cat.2 (High) - Target is to repair 90% of Cat.2 (High) within 28 days and
100% within 90 days;

Cat.2 (Low) - Works issued on a 90 day completion time.

 

9) Whether or not Notts. CC has formally adopted all or part of the
standards contained within the national code of practice for highways
maintenance management (e.g. Well Maintained Highways).

Nottinghamshire County Council has set its own standard for the frequency
of its highway safety and service inspections. These have been approved by
Elected Members and take into account national guidelines for the
definition of highways type, hierarchy and inspection frequencies issued
in the latest Code of Practice for Maintenance Management "Well Maintained
Highways (July 2005). These standards are shown in NCC's Highway Network
Management Plan.
