Highsted Grammar School (136305)

Jonathan Allison made this Freedom of Information request to Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Dear Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills,

Please disclose the risk assessment that was, or should have been conducted, on Highsted Grammar School (URN: 136305) three years after its previous inspection - roughly 2012.

This should have been done as a result of its academisation, given that "the academy converter is a new school, which may not yet have been inspected, the inspection judgements of the predecessor school are not those of the new academy".

Yours faithfully,

Jonathan Allison

Dear Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills's handling of my FOI request 'Highsted Grammar School (136305)'.

I believe that your decision to refuse to disclose this information is a deliberate attempt to obfuscate the transparency of the audit process, contrary to the Regulators' Code.

It has already been proven that the Ofsted inspection process is fundamentally flawed, which is why the decision has been made not to exempt "outstanding" institutions from subsequent full inspections. Parents, and the children who will attend these schools for five or seven years deserve to be given the true information behind a school's performance, prior to their attendance there.

The 33(2) exemption you have claimed does not preclude you from disclosing the information in a redacted format, so as to remove any suggestion of when a subsequent inspection would take place, although this is a moot point given that the Section 5 exemption is due to be removed.

You appear to have misunderstood my request with your comments about pre-empting future inspections. I merely want to know the findings of the risk assessment and the evaluation which deemed it not necessary for an immediate Section 8 inspection.

Yours faithfully,

Jonathan Allison

Dear Mr Allison,

Thank you for your email.

As you are unhappy with the original response you received to your request for information, we will carry out a review of the decision. The review will concentrate on the handling of your request and the application of the exemptions used to withhold the information.

Yours sincerely,

Elizabeth Banks
