Could you explain which criteria you take to mean by High Table”, and what you understand by the “cost of High Table” please?

For example, the “cost” might be the charge levied on people eating at College events, or the overheads incurred by the College.

“High Table” might only relate to meals served only on special occasions, or every meal provided to College Fellows, or some other criteria.

If I can understand these aspects more fully I can try to address your questions.

I am writing in response to your request for an internal review, into the
College’s responses to your initial request of the 10 March 2022 (updated
on 20 March 2022 following Mr Wood’s e-mail asking for clarification of
your initial question).

Background: Your request, under the Freedom of Information Act, was sent
to the College’s Information Officer, who is the Bursar of the College (Mr
Chris Wood). Your question related to information held: ”How much has the
College spent on High Table each year since 2010?”, Mr Wood’s response (20
March 2022) was “Unfortunately, I am unable to answer this question as the
College does not account separately for its High Table costs. These
overheads are simply recorded within the College’s overall catering
expenditure.”

Your internal review (issued on 22 March) asked that we “Please provide
the information requested.”

Investigation: I have discussed the response given by Mr Wood with him
directly, and importantly asked for the basis of his responses. I have
also questioned the College Accountant and the College’s Catering Manager.
I can now confirm that the College does not hold the information
requested: St Hilda’s College does not allocate catering costs in its
management accounts in a manner that would allow High Table costs to be
separately calculated or reported.

Findings of the internal review: With due consideration of the responses
gained from my investigation, I find that the answer provided by the
Bursar to be correct. I therefore consider his handling of the matter to
be entirely appropriate.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of this internal review you have
right to appeal to the Information Commissioner.
