Complaints to Magistrates for Council Tax (CT) Liability Orders.

Going as far back as is reasonable (eg 5 years), up to the most recent data available, Please could you provide me with a table of information under the following headings:-

1. Date Of hearing
2. Number of CT Accounts Listed on a Complaint
3. Total Court fee paid
4. length of hearing - defended/undefended
5. Number of CT accounts Liability Order made against
6. Total costs awarded to Billing authority
7. Actual cost of preparing for and attending the hearing.
8. Number of Accounts in name of a Limited Company?

The length of the hearing is not recorded, however, attendance at court
could take anytime from 1 hour to 7 hours dependant on when the cases are
heard by the Magistrates’ Court.

 

 5. Number of CT accounts Liability Order made against - see attached
spreadsheet

 

 6. Total costs awarded to Billing authority  - This information would
take considerable time to collate as in some cases it is just the
summons costs in other cases summons and liability order

 

 7. Actual cost of preparing for and attending the hearing.

 

These costs are included within the summons and liability order costs that
have been approved by the Magistrates’ Court.  The current costs are:

 

·         Summons - £69.50

·         Liability Order - £13.00

 

 8. Number of Accounts in name of a Limited Company?

 

The provision of this data will take in excess of 18 hours to provide.
