Dear Ms McCaffrey,

Re: Freedom of Information request (Our Ref: FOI-056150)

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) request dated 10 April
2018.

Your exact request was:

“Could you please list medicines that have previously been, currently are,
or will soon be available on the NHS in England, and cost £60,000 and
above, per patient, per treatment year.

Could you please include the condition the medicine treats, and the
patient population that are eligible for the listed medication, and the
total budget per year, for the listed medicines.”

NHS England holds information in relation to your request.

Please find attached a table of medicines that have a net value above
£60,000 per patient per treatment year including the condition the
medicine treats.

Please note, however:

The list is based on average use of the product, i.e. some products are
weight-based.

Blood products listed will breach £60k if used for long term prophylaxis;
otherwise, costs fall below £60k.

The items which are “not routinely commissioned” relate to medicines for
patients for whom there are legacy commitments to treat.

As the information regarding patient population eligibility held by NHS
England is available in the public domain, we will refer you to the
published source under Section 21 of the FOI Act (information accessible
to the applicant by other means).

Information about the clinical policies produced by NHS England can be
found in the relevant programmes of care sections on our web page:

Further information may be held by National Institute for Health and Care
Excellence (NICE); however, please be aware that private organisations are
not subject to the Act.

[2]www.nice.org.uk

There are no future products listed in the spreadsheets as we cannot
predict with certainty which products will be commissioned.

It is important to note that NHS England does not allocate budgets to
individual medicines.
