Heritage at Risk
Dear The Crown Estate,
The 2019 Heritage at Risk Register (link to interactive map - https://t.co/pE1yQgZfmo ) shows that on much of the farmland owned by the Crown Estate in Wiltshire, and probably elsewhere, that Heritage Assets such as barrows are at risk from ploughing by the Crown's tenants.
Please may I enquire as to what steps The Crown Estate is taking to provide exemplary leadership as a landlord in ensuring that the Heritage Assets it owns are protected and that in future assessments they will no longer be classified as being at risk.
Yours faithfully,
Tim Daw

Dear Mr Daw
Your enquiry (1134)
I am writing further to your email of 21 October 2019, in which you
enquired about the steps taken by The Crown Estate as a landlord to ensure
that the Heritage Assets such as barrows on farmland that it owns are
protected.
The Crown Estate ensures that those properties being let that incorporate
assets such as ancient monuments have leases that include appropriate
clauses to ensure that they are preserved and not damaged by persons or
animals. In addition, it engages with local stakeholder groups as
appropriate on issues of restoration and maintenance that include heritage
assets.
I hope that this information is helpful.
Yours sincerely
