4 March 2012

Dear Clare Foxall-Rush,
Thank you for the information you provided for the numbers of
Health Visitors 2006-2010. I understand from the CPHVA that you are
now actually obligated to produce caseload numbers. Clearly these
can be derived from the numbers of 0-5 yrs in each of the years
requested, this would at least provide the mean. Would you be so
kind as to suggest where the historical data is for the years prior
to 1st December 2010?
If the staff groups merged with Heart of Birmingham and Birmingham
East and North, the cumulative figures are in the possession both
of the manager holding overall responsibilty for the service and
those payrolling the service? Please would you be so kind as to
delve a little as clearly someone must know and is accountable for
the service?
Many thanks!

Yours sincerely,

PJBallinger

27 March 2012

Dear Mr Ballinger,

With reference to your correspondence dated 4th March 2012, I confirm that I am able to provide the following information in respect of the 2012 position:

Total Under 5's Caseload 75,785
Lowest 496
Highest 1006
Mean 699.32
Median 699

Unfortunately we are not able to provide you with data from previous years. As I previously advised, Health Visiting Services from BEN PCT and from HoBt PCT transferred to this Trust in December 2010 and we are unable to verify the accuracy of the data that we have received from them in terms of the number of staff employed at any one time. As I am sure you will appreciate staff numbers can fluctuate month on month and I would not want to provide you with information that is incorrect. I should also add that we do not hold any data relating to the population of Birmingham for the years that you mention. It is however possible that the former PCTs may hold such data or alternatively you could approach the Local Authority.

I am sorry that I am not able to help any further.

Kind regards

Clare Foxall-Rush
