Health service provision for Welborne and other major developments

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, NHS Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear NHS Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group,

What details studies have been undertaken to understand the impact of the Welborne development North of Fareham will have on the already stretched health provision for Fareham and Gosport residents.

The present increase in new housing numbers is projected to rise. Fareham alone will see an increase of 10,000. Will the present health services be able to manage with such large numbers of new homes.

Yours faithfully,

S. Cunningham

Dear S Cunningham

Further to your e-mail of 11 June requesting information on health service provision for Welborne and other major developments, please see the response to your enquiry below :

The CCG has a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, produced by the Public Health department of Hampshire County Council which looks at the health need for the whole existing community of the Fareham Borough, as well as residents on the Gosport peninsular. This document will be refreshed to include the new population of the Welborne development when details of the construction phasing and detailed population growth is made available by Fareham Borough Council and the developers.

The CCG also commissions Primary Care for the Fareham area which will enable us to directly influence the provision of these services in the Welborne development. Again further work will be undertaken as population information becomes available to ensure that anticipated increased activity as well as emergency referrals are appropriately resourced and managed. As CCG's are funded by head of population any additional population growth will be accompanied by increased Central government budget. This will enable the provision of any additional and enhanced services which the new community requires.

Your request for information has been dealt with in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act (2000) and we hope that you find this response helpful.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your original enquiry and should be addressed to:

Dear FOI (NHS FAREHAM AND GOSPORT CCG),

Thank you for your reply.

You say and I quote " As CCG's are funded by head of population any additional population growth will be accompanied by increased Central government budget. This will enable the provision of any additional and enhanced services which the new community requires"

How confident are you such funding will be available? Present accident emergency at QA are under enormous strain......where the funding for that problem.

I am looking for confidence that funding for health care provision for Welborne and the impact welborne will have on present health care facilities will be funded in a timely way.

Can you resume me?

Yours sincerely,

S. Cunningham
