Dear Hywel Dda Local Health Board,

Initially could you please confirm the areas/organisation covered
by the councils remit, so that I may ensure I am gathering the
right information from the right course, without duplication.
I am gathering employment and local demographic data in relation
to the local health & social care market place. It is with this
mind that I hope you can supply the required information for the
following job Categories. If possible could this information please
be presented for the year Jan 2010 - Dec 2010, annual total and
monthly breakdown.

- Qualified Social Worker
- Residential Support Workers
- Nurses
- Allied Healthcare Professionals (Arts Therapists, Biomedical
Scientists, Chiropodists & Podiatrists, Clinical Scientists,
Dieticians, Hearing Aid Dispensers, Occupational Therapists,
Operating Department Practitioners, Orthoptists, Paramedics,
Physiotherapists, Practitioner Psychologists,
Prosthetists/Orthotists, speech & Language Therapists)

1. Total Number of staff Directly employed across the council per
job type, by department

2. Number of temporary agency staff on placement within the council
per job type, by department and by supplier
3. Total Number of permanent jobs filled/resourced through
recruitment agencies
4. Total Spend on direct employment across the council per job
type, by department
5. Total Spend on Temporary agency labour across the council, per
job type, per department and by supplier
6. Total spend on Permanent fees paid to Agencies
7. Average Salary for each job role above based on results from
2010 for direct staff and agency staff

Notes:
1. I would like the information in electronic format (and if
possible, in Excel to assist with calculations). This should avoid
any printing cost issues.
2. Could you please indicate which directorate as well as
department.

to employment and local demographic data in relation to the local health &

Under the Act, the Health Board is required to supply the information to
you within 20 working days.  In terms of your request, this means that the

Information Requested Under Freedom Of Information Act 2000

Further to our acknowledgement letter of 22 June 2011, I am writing to let
you know we are still in the process of collating the information that you
have requested.  Due to the nature of your request we are unlikely to be
able to respond within the required twenty (20) working days.

We can however, answer the following questions at this stage:

Question 1 – Total number of staff directly employed across Hywel Dda
Health Board.

Question 4 – Total spend on direct employment across the Health Board;

Question 7 – Average Salary for each job role based on results from 2010
for direct staff. 

The figures for these questions are attached in Excel as requested. 

I can also confirm that all staff groups outlined in your request work
within Hywel Dda Health Board, with the exception of qualified social
workers and residential support workers.  These staff groups are employed
by the relevant County Councils (Pembrokeshire; Ceredigion;
Carmarthenshire), which cover the Health Board’s geographical area.  Their
Freedom of Information Officers’ contact details can be accessed by
visiting the respective County Council websites.

Dear Mr Lewis,
 
Further to my letter to you dated 14th July 2011. 
 
We are still in the process of collating the data you have requested,
however to answer questions 5 and 6 is proving to be extremely time
consuming with the questions in their current format.  This information is
not routinely held and would require the Finance department to go down to
individual invoice level (and would as a result, exceed the 18 hours of
'free' time as outlined in Section 12 of the Act).
 
Would it be possible for us to offer you the data for the financial year
2010-2011 (i.e. April to March), but without the individual agency names? 
This would enable a much speedier response to your request.
