Dear Ms Evans
Your request made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“FOIA”)
I refer to your request for information dated 9 May 2017. Your request was
as follows:
“Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like you to release the
individual salaries of each of your headteachers".
In response to your queries, I can confirm that the School holds the
information requested. However, I am unable to provide the remuneration
of the individual Headteachers; this information is withheld in reliance
on the exemptions contained within sections 40(2) and 40(3)(a)(i) FOIA.
The information you have requested constitutes the personal data of
identifiable individuals and it is not considered to be fair to those
individuals to put details of their individual salaries into the public
domain. This is on the basis that each Headteacher (and indeed any
employee in general) would reasonably expect their personal financial
information/ remuneration be kept private. If we were to disclose the
information, we would be in breach of the “Data Protection Principles”
contained in the Data Protection Act 1998, which requires that any release
of information is fair and lawful.
As such that information is exempt from disclosure pursuant to the
exemption contained in Section 40(2) and 40(3) FOIA.
This concludes the School’s response to your request. If you are
dissatisfied with this response you can ask us to review our response or
complain to the Information Commissioner ([1]www.ico.gov.uk) / Information
Commissioner's Office Wycliffe House Water Lane Wilmslow Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Kind regards
Simon Appleman
