Has The Council Got Any Plans To Change Their Kerbside Collection Recycling Scheme

The request was partially successful.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Has the Council got in place any plans to change its recycling scheme within the next 5 years?

If yes:

Does the plan include a new kerbside collection?

Does the plan make changes to the current kerbside collection scheme?

Has the Council requested or gained any funding from central government or the EU?

Does the plan include a new kerbside product ie wheeled bins, Boxes, Bags Etc..

If Yes
When will you pilot the plan?

When does the council plan to bring in the new scheme?

Was the changes planned due to the new EU regulation on co-mingled waste?

What is the department contact details who are implementing the new recycling scheme?

Yours faithfully,

Matthew Clark

InfoMgr, FinDMT,

Good Morning

Wirral Council thanks you for your request, please find information Waste
and Environment can provide to you in response to your queries as follows:

The Council has no approved plans for changes to its current kerbside
scheme. However, in order to meet our 2020 statutory requirements, it is
highly likely that a food waste collection service will be rolled out to
the majority of households. This is likely to occur around 2017, when the
current kerbside fleet of vehicles is due for replacement, providing the
opportunity to investigate co-collection of food waste on the same
vehicles.

This is likely to require caddies and/or containers for inside the
house. The Council will be intending to retain its co-mingled collection
service, although through TEEP it will examine the viability of
alternative options.

We trust you find this information of assistance

Kind regards
