Hardship payment applications

Frank Zola made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

The request was partially successful.

From: Frank Zola

29 January 2012

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

In the last 3 months how many have been sanctioned for not
participating in the Work Programme and how many subsequently
applied for Hardship payments? Of those applications how many got
the Hardship Payments, with regards Sparkhill Jobcentre Plus or
Birmingham if information is not available on this local level?

I want names or descriptions of the kinds of analysis or
statistical reports the DWP uses and produces to monitor
applications for Hardship payments.

Yours faithfully,

Frank Zola

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

In my request I asked for

"In the last 3 months how many have been sanctioned for not
participating in the Work Programme and how many subsequently
applied for Hardship payments? Of those applications how many got
the Hardship Payments, with regards Sparkhill Jobcentre Plus or
Birmingham if information is not available on this local level?"

You have refused disclosure on the basis of your note
http://research.dwp.gov.uk/asd/asd1/work...
I cannot see any reference to a future intention to release the
specific sanction and hardship payment information requested.
Please also consider these facts in your internal review.

Yours sincerely,

Frank Zola

Quote-marks DWP,

are you deliberately taking too long picking up pieces of paper so you can avoid paying these hardship payments as by the time most people will get them their sanction will have expired ?

seeing that the state changed the law so the dwp could avoid paying back X amount of benefits from illegal sanctions i.e theft, is the above really a question
