Halton Lea Health New Town

James A Owen made this Freedom of Information request to Halton Borough Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Halton Borough Council,

Can you please reply to the following two requests.

Can you please provide any updates connected with the following news release from Halton Borough Council in 2016/17.
Do the present new plans complement it or contradict it.

Halton Borough Council has confirmed that the Runcorn ‘healthy new town’ will be based at former government building flats projects in Halton Lea ward.
The local authority said the scheme’s centre will be the creation of 800 residential units around Runcorn Shopping Centre at East Lane House, Castle View House and Grosvenor House.
The initiative is being driven by Halton Borough Council and NHS Halton Clinical Commissioning Group, with support from general practitioners, Bridgewater Community NHS Foundation Trust, 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Warrington And Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation, Halton and St Helens Voluntary And Community Action, Co-Production Group, Runcorn Shopping Centre, Homes And Communities Agency, developers, Manchester University Architecture School and NHS Innovation Agency.
A local authority spokesman said the model will use a ‘One Halton’ method for care services ‘that puts people in control of their lives and responsibility for their own health’.
He said it will ensure that residents know who to go to if they need support and that the system ‘works for them, not against them’.
David Parr, Halton Council chief executive, said: “Our vision is to make Halton Lea a connected, Healthy New Town – connected by its people, connected by its aspirations, connected by its environment, connected by technology and connected by place.

Second request

Halton 5 office complex, what amount of the floor area has been leased in percentage to the total. What revenue has been collected. Is the complex a liability to the community financially or an asset.

Yours faithfully,

James A Owen

Wesley Rourke, Halton Borough Council

Dear Mr. Owen thank you for your enquiry. Since the press to which you
refer was published, a Masterplan for the Halton Healthy New Town has been
consulted upon and now produced. This was reported in the local press
earlier this year and complements the original proposals that were
submitted to Government under the Healthy New Towns Programme.

Regarding your second question, this building is not owned by the Council.
Therefore, I am unable to provide further information.

Yours sincerely

Wesley Rourke

Operational Director Economy, Enterprise and Property.
