guidelines for requesting deadline extensions to UC50 forms

The request was successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

What is the official procedure for claimants to request an extension to the date by which the UC50 form must be returned by please. Some claimants are told they cannot request a deadline extension for a UC50 form when they ring the UC helpline. They are informed that is sufficient to outline reasons for lateness on the UC50 form when they complete it. PIP claimants seem to be able to obtain a 2 week extension for their PIP2 form by ringing the PIP helpline. Should UC claimants be requesting a UC50 extension on their UC journal or asking their work coach or ringing the UC helpline? Can you clarify this?

Yours faithfully,
Miss Harrison
