I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 29
January 2024

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

I would be grateful if you could send me:

1. Any specific guidance and/or instructions you have received from bodies
advising/representing UK universities (including, but not restricted to,
Universities UK and UCEA) regarding what, how, and to whom to communicate
as regards Israel and Palestine – from 7 October 2023 to the date in 2024
that you process this request.

Please see the attached email. Please note, under section 40(2) of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000, some names and contact details have been
redacted, I am unable to provide a greater level of detail as the
disclosure of information from which the individuals concerned may be
identified would be unfair and a breach of the data protection principles.

2. Any specific guidance and/or instructions you have been given from
bodies advising/representing UK universities (including, but not
restricted to, Universities UK and UCEA) regarding language to use/to
avoid as regards Israel and Palestine - from 7 October 2023 to the date in
2024 that you process this request.

We have no record of documents that meet the above criteria.

3. Any further material documenting discussions within the university's
senior leadership team over whether or not to issue statements (whether to
the university community or publicly) concerning Gaza (including higher
education in Gaza) - from 7 October 2023 to the date in 2024 that you
process this request.
