Dear Maddie Cross,
Freedom Of Information Act 2000 - Information Request 33607
Your request for information received on 15/01/2024 has now been
considered and the information requested is enclosed.
Your Request.
1) Provide me all documents, briefings, emails, communications from / to
newly elected councillors following the Local Elections relating to them
beginning their new role.
Our Response.
I have attached a letter that is sent to all new Councillors upon their
election to Dudley MBC (this is the one sent in 2023).
I have also attached a letter sent to all new Councillors - Introduction
to the Council - New Councillor Induction.
All newly elected Councillors are required to attend an induction training
session, usually 1 week after election. The programme for the induction in
2023 is attached. At the induction, Members are given more detailed
information such as how they access ICT, procedures for dealing with
enquiries and other mandatory training that they will be required to
attend to carry out their roles as elected Members.
At the induction, we also cover practical issues such as arranging for ID
badges, setting up webpages, tour of the Council House and its facilities,
arrangements for receiving Committee documents, any special access
requirements, and general practicalities to ensure that Members can carry
out their roles. Ongoing support and advice are then provided to Members
by Democratic Services and other Council officers.
If you have any queries or concerns, then please contact me.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your
request and wish to make a comment or complaint, or request a review of
the decision, you should write to the Freedom of Information Officer at
Dudley MBC, The Council House, Dudley, West Midlands, DY1 1HF, telephone
0300 555 2345, e-mail [2][Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council request email].
Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.
If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint, you may apply
directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the
ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints
procedure provided by Dudley MBC.
