Guidance issued to Work Coaches and Case Managers to support the re-implementation of Claimant Commitments in July 2020

The request was successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please email me the current JSA and UC guidance issued to Work Coaches and Case Managers to support the re-implementation of Claimant Commitments in July 2020 and a copy of the guidance versions that existed on January 1st, 2020.

There is a Public Interest to disclose the information requested before it is placed in the House of Commons library at some unknown future date, as there are now 3 million plus UC claims and the DWP is recruiting 13,000 more Coaches in response to the Covid19 Jobs and unemployment and underemployment crisis.

Please also disclose details of the time (averages or estimated) a Work Coach spends undertaking UC Work Search Review appointments with claimants, over the phone and or online using a claimant's UC account or Face to Face at a Jobcentre and how often they take place for claimants in the intensive/all work search requirements group during 2019 and changes being implemented since July 2020.

Yours faithfully,

Frank Zola

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I want to amend my information to:

Please email me the current JSA and UC guidance issued to Work Coaches and Case Managers to support the re-implementation of Claimant Commitments (CC) in July 2020 and a copy of the guidance versions that existed on January 1st, 2020.

As well as related information on the topic of UC and JSA Work Coaches and Case Managers using "a light touch" claimant commitment "element" and information held and accessible to Work Coaches and Case Managers and Decision Makers on them not " activley seeking to impose sanctions or similar" and the expectation that "if there are any [sanctions] applied at all it will be very rare".

Reference:
Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Thérèse Coffey has confirmed that the DWP is not actively seeking to apply benefit sanctions during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and that 'if there are any applied at all, they will be very rare'.

'I am conscious that a lot of this will be a light touch element of claimant commitment. It's not our intention to particuarly go out activley seeking to impose sanctions or similar and I expect if there are any applied at all it will be very rare'
