Dear Jordan

Thank you for your email requesting information under the provisions of
the Freedom of Information Act, which we received on 20 April 2020. For
ease of reference, I have set out your request below, followed by our
response.

Can you release latest guidance for Metro tram staff during the
Coronavirus pandemic?

I have attached a document that has been issued to Midland Metro Limited
employees which outlines guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus
(COVID-19). These guidelines are based upon and should be read in
conjunction with the advice given by Public Health England (PHE). They
reflect the most up to date advice (at the time of writing) from
Government and explain how our employees can protect themselves and others
from Coronavirus COVID-19.

What measures have taken to protect staff and passengers during the
pandemic?

The safety of our employees and customers is always our first priority.
During these unusual circumstances, we have been working hard to ensure
that our employees and customers are safe by following PHE advice and
introducing direct measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. These
include:

* Sharing the latest government health guidance with employees, making
sure they understand the advice to self-isolate if they show
symptoms.
* Increasing our already well-established cleaning regimes for trams,
tram stops and customer touchpoints. These include handrails, loop and
push surfaces, as well as the depot using viricidal disinfectant.
* Providing PPE to all employees, including gloves and hand sanitiser
* Utilising all communication channels (public address, platform
information displays, social media) to share safety advice with
customers, in addition to posters on every platform and a dedicated
page on our website: [1]https://westmidlandsmetro.com/coronavirus/.
* Redeploying our front facing team members and creating a driver only
access point on all trams, to support social distancing.
* Encouraging customers to buy their ticket in advance using our app, or
to pay using contactless methods and drivers automatically opening
doors at each stop to reduce contact with touch points.

I trust that I have provided the information that you have requested in a
suitable format. However, if you are dissatisfied with the way in which we
have handled your request, you have the right to ask us to review it. You
should make your request for a review within 40 working days of receipt of
this letter, and we will provide our review within 20 working days of
receipt.

If, following review, you remain dissatisfied with the handling of your
request you have the right under section 50 of the Freedom of Information
Act 2000 to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision.

Generally, the Information Commissioner cannot make a decision unless you
have exhausted our review procedure. You can contact the information
