Growing non THC Cannabis strains

Kirsty Eccles made this Freedom of Information request to Home Office This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Home Office should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Home Office,

I have been using non psychoactive CBD oil to treat my arthritis and the results are far more effective and safer than any of the poisons my GP has prescribed. Due to extortionate prices retail outlets charge I'm now struggling to afford to treat my illness but am not willing to revert back to dangerous prescription drugs.

On a recent visit to Amsterdam to investigate CBD I met with producers of medicinal cannabis and obtained medicinal cannabis seeds. This is one of the most reputable companies worldwide. The seeds and the subsequent cultivated plants are free from THC and only cost four euros each and will enable me to produce my own medicine at very low cost, thus saving a fortune.

1: As CBD oil is legal in the UK am I correct in assuming I can now grow my own medicine using these seeds without fear of prosecution?

2: As I live on a farm and have a large empty outbuilding. Could I propagate hundreds of these seeds and create large amounts of non THC CBD oil?

Yours faithfully,

Kirsty Eccles

Dear FOI Responses,

In your response you stated "In its raw form, it currently has no recognised medicinal or legitimate uses beyond potential research use."

Cannabis 'in its raw form' has been used for centuries as an effective medicine. Cannabis 'in its raw form' has killed cancer cells. Cannabis 'in its raw form' has been used effectively to treat gluacoma and as an effective pain killer.

I have carried out 27 years of research on the subject and will (at your request) provide scientific evidence that cannabis 'in its raw form' IS an effective medicine.

Therefore, as you insist that cannabis (in its raw form) holds no medicinal uses or values, please provide me with the scientific evidence you base your assumptions upon.

Yours sincerely,

Kirsty Eccles
