The charity Group B Strep Support is doing some research into group B
Strep prevention policies, information provision, and types of GBS testing
done across the UK.
Please find attached the RBCH antenatal care guideline which mentions
Group B Strep, and the RCOG leaflet that is provided women who have been
diagnosed with GBS. RBCH runs a midwife-led birthing unit only, and does
not give IV antibiotics or have full neonatal facilities. As such any
women with GBS will give birth at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s
maternity unit where those facilities are available. When caring for women
diagnosed with GBS, RBCH’s birthing unit follows Poole Hospital’s GBS
guideline, which are attached.
