Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

I am writing to make an open government request for all of the
information, to which I am entitled to request under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.

I would like answers to the following points;

1. Is grounds maintenance (ie mowing, tree work, weed spraying etc) work
undertaken by in-house teams or contracted out?

2. Who is responsible for managing in-house grounds maintenance teams or
contractors?

3. What is the contact name, address and email of the person responsible
for managing grounds maintenance activities?

4. What is the annual grounds maintenance budget?

5. Do you receive additional Government, non-profit or voluntary
donations, specifically for grounds maintenance tasks?

I would like the above information to be provided electronically. I
understand that you are legally compelled to respond to my request within
20 working days after receipt of my letter. I would be grateful if you
could confirm in writing that you have received this request.

Yours faithfully,

Steve Wright

InfoMgr, FinDMT, Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council

Dear Mr Wright

Further to your recent Freedom of Information request, please see below
the Council's response to your enquiry.

1. Is grounds maintenance (i.e. mowing, tree work, weed spraying etc.)
work undertaken by in-house teams or contracted out?

Grass cutting, tree work and weed control work for the council is carried
out by either in-house staff or external contractors depending on the task
and department.

2. Who is responsible for managing in-house grounds maintenance teams or
contractors?

Highway asset manager is responsible for the Highway contracted out tree
work. Parks & Countryside Senior Manager is responsible for in house work
and contracted out work within Parks & Countryside sites and for in-house
team that carry out verge grass cutting.

3. What is the contact name, address and email of the person responsible
for managing grounds maintenance activities?

We do not have one person as the sole contact point for all the activities
you have listed.  Enquiries about specific services and contract
opportunities, which are published on the Chest, can both be accessed from
the council website [1]www.wirral.gov.uk

4. What is the annual grounds maintenance budget?

As we use both in-house staff teams and external contracts we do not hold
one budget for all the items you have listed.

5. Do you receive additional Government, non-profit or voluntary
donations, specifically for grounds maintenance tasks?

No.

Yours sincerely
