Gritting Fiasco
Dear Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council,
Last month CMBC had to back down from the ludicrous decision to stop gritting a large number of roads in Calderdale. This was mainly due to pressure from members of the public.
Despite changing their minds, there will have been significant costs in undertaking the apparent risk assessments for each road, developing the child like drawings that were sent to members of the public, advertising the change, having members of staff driving around putting up signage and moving grit bins into place etc.
Can I therefore request the following.
1. A copy of the risk assessments produced for each road explaining why the decision was made.
2. The cost including of implementing and then backing down after public pressure. This should include staff time (undertaking the risk assessments, putting up signage throughout Calderdale, printing costs, etc)
3. Any correspondence held in any format between Councillors, officers in highways, and the chief executive when the decision to withdraw the scheme was made.
Kind Regards
Yours faithfully,
Barry Hodgson
