Dear Brent Jay,

Freedom of Information Request – FOI2024/00169

We are writing in response to your email received by Post Office Limited (“Post
Office
”) on 19 January, which has been dealt with under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (“FOIA”).

In your email you have requested the information shown in bold below:

Please can you provide me with copies of any emails you have with the phrase
"equinox greetings" from the beginning of the 2020 calendar year until now?
”

We can confirm that Post Office does hold the information you have requested.

Please refer to FOI2024_00169_Emails_Redacted.pdf

Some of the requested information has been withheld under s40(1), because it
constitutes personal data relating to the requestor, and to s40(2) and s40(3A) as it
constitutes personal data relating to other persons.

Section 40(1) expresses that any information to which a request for information
relates is exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is
the data subject.

We consider that disclosure of this information is likely to breach the first data
protection principle, which provides that personal data must be processed lawfully,
fairly, and in a transparent manner.

Sections 40(2) and s40(3A) exempt personal information from disclosure if that
information relates to someone other than the applicant, and if disclosure of that
information would breach any of the data protection principles in Article 5 (1) of the
UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We consider that disclosure of personal data is likely to breach the first data
protection principle, which provides that personal data must be processed lawfully,
fairly, and in a transparent manner. Disclosure would not constitute 'fair' processing
of the personal data because disclosure would not be 'fair'; e.g., if the information
relates to a non-GE member of staff who is not public facing, the data subjects
involved would not reasonably expect their names, roles and contact details to be
disclosed in relation to this request for information.

Finally, please note that we have removed duplicated information identified as part
of our search.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of this response, you do have a right to
request an internal review. You can do this by writing to the address above within 40
working days of receipt of this response stating your reasons for your internal review
request or alternatively, by emailing xxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xx.xx
