Green bins
Dear Cheshire West and Chester Council,
Can you confirm how many permits have been issued for the new garden bin scheme up to 1/4/2022?
Can you confirm the number of residents who have been given a permit and have also been given discount rate due to council tax exempt?
Can you confirm how many permits need to be sold to make the scheme cost neutral?
Yours faithfully,
Christopher Whittaker

Dear Christopher Whittaker,
Thank you for your request for information of 3 April 2022 which has been
logged as RFI 5226
Your request meets the definition of environmental information and has
therefore been answered under the Environmental Information Regulations
2004, the environmental version of the Freedom of Information act
legislation.
For the purposes of clarity your request is reproduced below.
Can you confirm the number of residents who have been given a permit and
have also been given discount rate due to council tax exempt?
2,727 of the residents paid were given a discounted rate due to receiving
full council tax reduction
Can you confirm how many permits need to be sold to make the scheme cost
neutral?
The cost to deliver the scheme/service is not fixed, it will vary
depending on the number of subscribers so there is no single breakeven
point, however the service is designed to be cost neutral. Currently the
service is running around 11-12 rounds across the Authority per day, with
an average round about 5000 to 6000 properties, with some properties
having multiple bins.
