Dear North East Lincolnshire Council, please complete this FoI accurately and truthfully, it is in the public domain, nebulous replies will only result in more public mistrust regards the way this closure program has been announced and enacted.
1) On what date was the portfolio for children and education first made aware of the proposals to close Scartho, Great Coates and Reynolds nurseries, and via what format? Email, minuted meeting etc
2) On what date was the portfolio for finance, resources and assets first made aware of the proposals to close Scartho, Great Coates and Reynolds nurseries, and via what format
3) On what date was the Leader of the council Philip Jackson first made aware of the proposals to close Scartho, Great Coates and Reynolds nurseries, and via what format
4) Where council officers and any elected members both involved in the discussions around and development of the nursery closure proposals?
5) Why have redundancy notices been issued to nursery staff whilst the public consultation is still ongoing?
6) Where any / all ruling party elected members aware of the nursery closure proposals PRIOR the council issuing the proposals into the public domain and issuing the notices to the 3 impacted nurseries and staff?

1. On what date was the portfolio for children and education first made
aware of the proposals to close Scartho, Great Coates and Reynolds
nurseries, and via what format? Email, minuted meeting etc
The Portfolio Holder was made aware at informal briefings held in December
2022
2. On what date was the portfolio for finance, resources and assets
first made aware of the proposals to close Scartho, Great Coates and
Reynolds nurseries, and via what format
No records are held in relation to this.
3. On what date was the Leader of the council Philip Jackson first made
aware of the proposals to close Scartho, Great Coates and Reynolds
nurseries, and via what format
No records are held in relation to this.
4. Where council officers and any elected members both involved in the
discussions around and development of the nursery closure proposals?
Yes. Officers of the Council and the Portfolio Holder for Children and
Education were involved in conversations around the consultation about the
future of the maintained nurseries and day care setting.
5. Why have redundancy notices been issued to nursery staff whilst the
public consultation is still ongoing?
Redundancy notices have not been issued to staff.
6. Where any / all ruling party elected members aware of the nursery
closure proposals PRIOR the council issuing the proposals into the
public domain and issuing the notices to the 3 impacted nurseries and
staff?
Yes, the Portfolio Holder for Children and Education was aware. Please
also see the response to point 4.
