Release of Information
Thank you for your correspondence of 29 September 2020 to the Ministry of Defence and
Royal Navy in which you requested the following information:
‘On 13th May 2020, Gravity Industries published a video on their YouTube
channel purporting tjatbif showed the Royal Navy and Royal Marines carrying out
a trial jet suit naval assault, as can be seen here:

Can you please disclose:
• How much has Gravity Industries been paid in relation to jet suit trials and tests
by yourselves or the mod?
• How long have you had a business relationship with Gravity Industries?
• Can you please disclose the reports relating to this test.
This is in the public interest and does not pose a national security risk due to the
already public nature of the test. It is important that the public can scrutinize how
public money is being spent by the mod.
It does not affect planned or current operations as they are not Yet in service.’
Your enquiry has been considered to be request for information in accordance with the
Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000.
Following consideration of both of your requests, it has become apparent that the Ministry of
Defence requires further detail from you to determine what information it is that you are
seeking. In respect of part one of your requests, can you please provide an explanation of
what you mean by the term ‘business relationship’?
Under S.1(3) of the FOI Act, a Public Authority may refuse to respond to an FOI request
where it requires further information in order to identify and locate the information requested.
It will be necessary to close your enquiry under this reference number until we have
received clarification as detailed above. Once the further information is received this will
constitute a new request of which there will be a new 20 working day period to respond.
If you are not satisfied with this response or you wish to complain about any aspect of the
handling of your request, then you should contact this office in the first instance. If
informal resolution is not possible and you are still dissatisfied then you may apply for an
independent internal review by contacting the Information Rights Compliance Team,

working days of the date on which the attempt to reach informal resolution has come to an

If you remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you may take your complaint to the
Information Commissioner under the provisions of Section 50 of the Freedom of Information
Act. Please note that the Information Commissioner will not investigate your case until the
