Dear Sir or Madam
Thank you for your enquiry of 25 February in which you requested information on
Entry Clearance applications. Your request has been handled as a request for
information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)
Information Requested
I understand that your department publishes data relating to the number of partner
visa applications granted by nationality of applicant.
However, I am hereby requesting data showing the total numbers of applications for
entry clearance as a partner (whether spouse, same-sex partner or civil partner), and
the numbers of these which were granted and refused, by nationality of applicant.
Please provide this data relating to the period from 2010 to 2019 inclusive.
Response
We believe that the information you have requested is already reasonably accessible
to you. The Home Office publishes data on Entry Clearance visas in the
‘Immigration Statistics Quarterly Release’. Data on applications and outcomes of
applications for visas are published in tables Vis_D01 and Vis_D02 respectively of
the
entry clearance visas detailed datasets.
UK Visas and Immigration is an operational command of the Home Office
Information on how to use the dataset can be found in the ‘Notes’ page of the
workbook. The latest data relates up to the end of 2019. Additionally, the Home
Office publishes a high-level overview of the data in the
summary tables. The
‘contents’ sheet contains an overview of all available data on Entry Clearance visas.
Information on future Home Office statistical release dates can be found in the
‘Research and statistics calendar’.
Section 21(1) of the FOIA exempts the Home Office from having to provide you with
this information, because it is already reasonably accessible to you.
If you are dissatisfied with this response you may request an independent internal
review of our handling of your request by submitting a complaint within two months
to
: xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xx, quoting reference 57981. If you ask for an
internal review, it would be helpful if you could say why you are dissatisfied with the
response.
As part of any internal review the Department's handling of your information request
will be reassessed by staff not involved in providing you with this response. If you
remain dissatisfied after this internal review, you would have a right of complaint to
the Information Commissioner as established by section 50 of the Freedom of
Information Act.
Yours faithfully
