Dear Mr Tatari

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request received on 03
March 2009. You requested the following:

Information on how much total grant money was allocated to
community/voluntary organizations by your council each year between 1998
and 2009, and which community organizations received how much grant money
each year between 1998 and 2009.

Your request has now been considered and the information is exempt under
the Act. Under section 12 of the Act, the Council is not obliged to
comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the
costs of complying with the request would exceed the appropriate limit.

The Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and
Fees) Regulations 2004 has set the appropriate limit as £450 based on a
charge at £25 per hour.

We are unable to provide you with all the information specified, however
attached is some of the information you requested.

There are three different types of grant administered by the borough; Main
Grants, Small grants and Holiday Grants. Attached are the records back to
2002 for Main and Small Grants. Records have not been collated earlier
than this, and the provision of this information would require us to
search through un indexed committee records. These records are held at
the London Borough of Hackney Local Studies Archive.

In the attached spreadsheet are also the 2007/8 holiday grants. Holiday
Grants were approved via the delegated authority powers which ended last
year.

Provision of the requested information for other years in addition to the
time spent collating the attached would exceed the appropriate limit.

You may wish to narrow and resubmit your request so that it falls within
the "appropriate limit". Please contact me if you would like some advice
on refining your request.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 this letter acts as
a Public Interest Refusal Notice.

We apologise that your request will not be met but if you have any further
information needs in the future then please contact us.

If you are dissatisfied with this response and wish to appeal, please
write to Freedom of Information Appeals Panel, Corporate ICT, 6-15
Florfield Road, London E8 1DT and your complaint will be dealt with
through our Internal Review procedure.

If you are still not satisfied following the Internal Review, you have a
right to appeal to the Information Commissioner. He can be contacted at:
