Grand 2 listed, the Grand, Folkestone

D Baker made this Freedom of Information request to NHS Blood and Transplant This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear NHS Blood and Transplant,

In January 2022 a blood donation session was held at the Grand in Folkestone (this was confirmed in a since deleted facebook post by a Peter
Cobrin [of which we have a screenshot]).
1. Can you confirm that the venue had public liability insurance and to what value this was?
2. Can you confirm the NHS carried out any due-diligence before booking
this venue, and what due-diligence was carried out (seeking copies of risk
assessments as example)?
3. Was the use of the property a paid for transaction (commercial) or was
its use gifted? For the avoidance of doubt I am not asking for figures to
be provided.
4. Will the NHS continue to use the Grand for blood donation sessions in
2022, in the event this is a yes please provide any confirmed or tentative dates."

Yours faithfully,

D Baker

Please note we were due to hold a session at The Grand in Folkestone on
Friday, 21^st January.  However, following our risk assessment the session

liability insurance. Under our S16 obligations we can advise you that
NHSBT hold their own public liability insurance – see attached.

venue fulfils its legal obligations under legislation for the
following; Fire Safety, Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, Asbestos

request copies of these documents as standard. However, as mentioned
above, the team carried out their own risk assessment and determined
the venue was not fit for purpose.
 3. No information held. The session on 21 January did not go ahead.
 4. No. NHSBT will not proceed with any future blood donation sessions at
this venue until the site is again deemed fit for purpose.
