Grammar School admissions data
Dear Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools,
I am writing with a request for information, which is as follows:
I’d like the information for entrance tests for admission into year 7 of each school for which you act as admissions authority, in each of the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. If your admissions tests are in the Autumn of the year before admission those would be the tests in the previous year (ie 2020 test for admission in 2021).
If only partial information is available I would still like to see it.
In each of these years:
1. How many places were available for entry into year 7 of each school, and (if different) what percentage were allocated via an entrance test?
2. How many children sat entrance tests for each school?
3. How many places were offered to pupils successful in the tests for each school?
4. How many pupils were admitted into year seven in each school?
Best wishes
Fran Abrams

Dear Ms Abrams
Thank you for your email.
Here is our response to your request in relation to the 2015-2021 entry
Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Tests:
1. How many places were available for entry into year 7 of each
school, and (if different) what percentage were allocated via an entrance
test?
All the available places in Buckinghamshire grammar schools were allocated
via the Bucks STT. The figures for 2018-2020 inclusive can be found on
this page on the TBGS website
[1]https://www.thebucksgrammarschools.org/t.... Comparable data for
2021 entry is not yet available. TBGS does not hold this information for
earlier years.
2. How many children sat entrance tests for each school?
The Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools (TBGS) is a company set up by the 13
Buckinghamshire grammar schools in order to provide a co-ordinated
Secondary Transfer Test. We only oversee the Buckinghamshire Secondary
Transfer Test – each grammar school is its own admissions authority.
Children sit the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test in order to
qualify for a place at any Buckinghamshire grammar school – at the point
of testing they are not applying for a particular school. Total qualifiers
for 2016-21 entry inclusive can be found in the data pages on our website.
Comparable figures for 2015 entry are attached.
3. How many places were offered to pupils successful in the tests
for each school?
All places were offered to pupils who had qualified for grammar school in
the Bucks STT. Note that this included pupils who were qualified via a
successful Selection Review.
4. How many pupils were admitted into year seven in each school?
Please see response to request 1 above. All grammar school places were
filled for entry into Year 7 in 2015-21. Each school admitted pupils to at
least its Published Admission Number (PAN) and occasionally above that as
a result of successful appeals
