Graffiti Expenditure

The request was partially successful.

Dear Tunbridge Wells Borough Council,

Due to the huge increase in the last 2-3 years with Graffiti in Tunbridge Wells/High Brooms, I was wondering how much Graffiti by Sq.m that Tunbridge Wells Council removed from its offices, houses and walls owned by the council in each of the past 3 financial years. Also the amount of graffiti by Sq.m that the council removed from council owned furniture eg; Seating benches, litter bins etc in each of the past 3 financial years. If this work is carried out by in-house staff or external agency. I have proposed to the Local MP and local councillors many times asking, why you don't use anti-Graffiti paint, this will help reduce costs and help deter vandals. We would like to know how much has been spent in the past 3 financial Years to have Graffiti removed.

Yours faithfully,
Barry Crick

Dear Mr Crick,

Re: FOI F08310

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.

Please find below the response to your recent request. The information has
been provided by our Waste and Streetscene Team.

Your request: Dear Tunbridge Wells Borough Council,

Due to the huge increase in the last 2-3 years with Graffiti in Tunbridge
Wells/High Brooms, I was wondering how much Graffiti by Sq.m that
Tunbridge Wells Council removed from its offices, houses and walls owned
by the council in each of the past 3 financial years. Also the amount of
graffiti by Sq.m that the council removed from council owned furniture eg;
Seating benches, litter bins etc in each of the past 3 financial years. If
this work is carried out by in-house staff or external agency. I have

don't use anti-Graffiti paint, this will help reduce costs and help deter
vandals.  We would like to know how much has been spent in the past 3
financial Years to have Graffiti removed.

I can confirm that the TWBC have never kept square meterage records for
graffiti removals.  The removal of graffiti is carried out by a Hit Squad
who carries out a range of duties including the removal of fly tips. We
pay for the Service and not per graffiti/fly tip removal.

I hope this information is helpful and if there is anything further I can
help with please contact me on 01892 554077 or via email to
[1][email address
