The request was successful.

Dear University of Aberdeen,

I am writing to make an open government request for all the information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I have an interest in how you have approached your graduation ceremonies during the Coronavirus pandemic. Please could you answer the following:

1) For your students who graduated in 2020, have they had an in-person graduation yet?

2) If no to question 1., are there plans to have an in-person graduation, when restrictions have been lifted? If so, will they be the same as previous cohorts (2019, 2018, etc.) and when are they currently planned for?

3) For your students who are due to graduate in 2021, will they have an in-person graduation? If no, what are your plans for these students?

Yours faithfully,

Kamran Ali

Dear Kamran Ali,

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST FOI 2021-129

I refer to your email of 11 May 2021 requesting information relating to graduation plans for 2020 and 2021 students.

Your request has now been considered under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, ‘the Act’.

1. For your students who graduated in 2020, have they had an in-person graduation yet?
No

2. If no to question 1, are there plans to have an in-person graduation, when restrictions have been lifted? If so, will they be the same as previous cohorts (2019, 2018, etc.) and when are they currently planned for?

Students who had their in-person graduation ceremony cancelled due to the pandemic will have a chance to attend a celebratory event in the future when we are able to deliver an event with no risk of cancellation.

3. For your students who are due to graduate in 2021, will they have an in-person graduation? If no, what are your plans for these students?

There will be no summer ceremonies this term, however a decision has not been reached for the winter term.
The plans for these students will be the same as indicated above for question two.
