Grade distribution request
Dear University College London,
I am writing to make an information request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I seek detailed statistical data regarding the academic performance within certain modules offered by the university. Specifically, I am interested in the distribution of final grades for the following modules:
1. Systems Neuroscience (PHOL0004)
2. Essential Molecular Biology (BIOC0007)
3. Cellular Neurophysiology (NEUR0007)
4. Introductory Pharmacology (PHAR0007)
5. Linear Algebra for Data Science (MATH0101)
6. Human Neuroanatomy (ANAT0003)
7. Molecular Biology for Neuroscientists (NEUR0006)
8. Coding for Bioscience Research (Python) (BIOS0030)
9. Perception (PSYC0017)
For each of the aforementioned modules, I request the provision of the following statistical data:
a) The mean and standard deviation of final grades for each academic year from 2019 to 2023, inclusively.
b) An aggregated calculation of the mean and standard deviation for all final grades across the specified years (2019-2023) for each module.
I appreciate your consideration of this request and look forward to your response within the timeframe specified by the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Should you require any clarification regarding the details of this request, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours faithfully,
Scott Hughes

Dear Mr Keyte,
Thank you for your prompt response and for seeking clarification on my information request. I appreciate your attention to detail and am happy to provide further explanation to facilitate the processing of my request.
The distinction between parts (a) and (b) of my request is as follows:
a) For each of the specified modules, I am requesting the mean and standard deviation of final grades for each individual academic year from 2019 to 2023. This means I would like to see the average grade and its variability for each year separately.
b) In addition, I am requesting an aggregated calculation of the mean and standard deviation for all final grades across the specified years (2019-2023) for each module. This would provide a single mean and standard deviation that represents the average and variability of grades over the entire five-year period, treating all the data from 2019 to 2023 as a collective dataset.
I hope this clarifies the two parts of my data request. Please let me know if there is anything else you need to proceed or if further clarification is required.
Thank you for your assistance.
Yours sincerely,
Scott Hughes
