GP and patient numbers by surgery
Dear Birmingham East and North Primary Care Trust (PCT),
Could you please supply me with the following data
- the numbers of GPs by surgery (including locums if recorded separately in the data)
- the numbers of patients registered with each surgery.
Please note that I am not asking for aggregate numbers, but data by individual surgery.
Could you please provide the data for the past 3 years, and in electronic format - CSV or XLS format would be fine.
If you need further clarification on this request, please let me know.
If part of the information can be provided sooner, please provide that information when it becomes available.
Yours faithfully,
Paul Bradshaw

Dear Denison Aimee,
Thank you for the information supplied. Unfortunately this only provides numbers for the "end of quarter as at 30/06/2011" and the request asked for 3 years' data.
I also requested the numbers of GPs per surgery, and this data is not included in the spreadsheet you have supplied.
Can you please therefore:
- supply numbers of GPs per surgery.
- provide data for the previous 11 quarters (i.e. 2 years) to complete the request?
Also, can I confirm that "list size" in the data refers to the numbers of patients on the surgery's list? And that these are whole numbers rather than references to hundreds or thousands (that is, a surgery with a list size of "4403" has 4,403 patients on its list)?
Yours sincerely,
Paul Bradshaw
I am on annual leave until 12th September for any queries please conact

Hi Paul.
I have just came across this request on the whatdotheyknow.com website, we
don’t appear to have received this, so would you like us to treat this as
a new request?

Dear Denison Aimee,
If that makes it easier, please do. However, your original reply to the original request (which was for something different to what you supplied) is on this page as well - at http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/gp...
So I'm not sure what you mean when you say you haven't received this?
Yours sincerely,
Paul Bradshaw

Dear Probert Jane,
Thank you for the file supplied. However, this is in PDF format and I did ask for Excel format (which is how you supplied the data in the previous response).
I'm assuming 'capitation figures' are the numbers of patients on each surgery's patient list? Can you please confirm this?
Also, can I confirm that the GP numbers given are full time equivalents (FTE)?
Finally, can I ask if there is a particular procedure that GP surgeries are expected to follow in maintaining patient lists, e.g. how often those are 'cleaned' in terms of removing patients whose status has changed/have not made an appointment for a particular number of years, etc?
Many thanks for all your help,
Yours sincerely,
Paul Bradshaw
