Governance programmes in Myanmar
Dear Department for International Development,
I would grateful if you would provide to me a breakdown of funding, and all monitoring and evaluation reports, for DfID-funded programmes/projects in Myanmar relating to improving governance.
Specifically, I am hoping to receive:
1) Funding
Please provide annual funding total for DfID support to governance related programmes* in Myanmar from 2015 to the present, broken down by name of programme and by implementing organisation.
2) Evaluation reports
Please provide all project/programme evaluations from 2015 to the present, relevant to governance programmes*.
*Please note I would like the following definition of 'DfID-funded governance programmes' to be applied:
- 'Governance programmes' is a broad definition, and should include as a minimum: social accountability, civic engagement, public finance management/expenditure tracking, public service reform, parliamentary support programmes, community level governance initiatives.
- 'DfID-funded' should please include programmes where: DfID is contributory donor to multilateral (eg UNDP/World Bank) programmes, direct delivery, inc through executive agenciesNDPBs, and funding disbursed via international development agencies and/or national organisations.
I will be submitting a duplicate request to the FCO.
Thanks in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Paul Taylor

Dear Alison,
Thanks so much for your letter in response to my recent FOI request. This is useful information and I will contact you again if I decide to refine my request.
I thought you might like to know that as well as this information being very useful to my work, I also made the FOI request as I wanted to share with my Burmese colleagues here in Yangon how the freedom of information act works in practice. I support a small national organisation dedicated to the principle of open government and who are advocates of the right to information. So undertaking this exercise was a useful case study of how things can be done. If you'd like to know more about our organisation you can visit theananda.org or mmbudgets.info.
Thanks again
Yours faithfully,
Paul Taylor
