Thank you for your request dated 26 March in which you asked the Department of Health and
Social Care (DHSC):
“Dear Department of Health and Social Care,
1. Please advise under the FOI the total cost of Gosport War Memorial Hospital Inquiry to date?
2. What additional funding has been allocated for the year 2019-2020 ”
Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
DHSC holds the information you have requested.
The Gosport Independent Panel’s expenditure up to 2018/2019 is as below;
• 2014/15 expenditure was £918, 900
• 2015/16 expenditure was £2.6m [£2,644,560]
• 2016/17 expenditure was £4.5m [£4,528,179]
• 2017/18 expenditure was £5.5m [£5,514,522]
• 2018/19 expenditure was £2.5m [£2,534,809] as per unaudited accounts.
Total expenditure for 2014/19 is £16m [£16,134,971]
The Department has not yet allocated a budget to the Gosport Inquiry for 2019/20 as it came to an
end in June 2018.
