Golf Resort - Hoylake

The request was successful.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
were any alternative options for the land that is proposed for the resort ever considered and if so what were the results?

Yours faithfully,

Alyson Martin

Dear Ms Martin,

FOI 959367: Hoylake Golf Resort.

Thank you for your recent FOI request in connection with the above.

Regeneration and Environment can confirm that the Council commissioned in
2006 an assessment of the golf market both locally, national and
internationally prior to the project being explored. The work confirmed
that the golf market within the North West was estimated to be worth in
the region of £10m with a real potential to grow. It also concluded that
golf resort concepts are increasingly demand drivers for tourism and a
golf resort can provide a ’tourist destination’ in its own right. As the
project progresses the preferred development partner will undertake
further work on the market issues.

In regards to your second point, all options are open and the public
consultation which will take place later this year will allow for comment
on these.

The Council is not aware of the Police using the land identified for the
proposed golf resort as a training area for their dogs.

We trust you find this information of assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Tracy O'Hare
