FOI, Sport England

Dear Mr Hegarty,

Thank you for your email. I am sorry to hear that your two previous emails
to Sport England have not received a response. I have checked our records
carefully but have been unable to identify these emails. I would be happy
to investigate - please let me know when, and to whom these emails were
sent and I will look into this further.

With regards to your request for information about the number 'of Gold
Medallists at the able bodied Rio Olympics that received funding from
Sport England were from state schools and the number from public schools'
I regret that we do not hold the information requested.

The vast majority of Sport England's investment is made into grassroots
rather than elite sports and we do not provide funding for individuals. In
any event we do not record information about the schools attended by those
applying for Sport England funding.

I am sorry that we cannot be more helpful on this occasion. UK Sport, our
sister organisation provide funding for elite sports and they may be able
to help with your query. Contact details for UK Sport can be found on
their website at the following URL:

This completes our response to your information request.

As a public body, Sport England is subject to the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 and this means you are entitled to complain if you
are unhappy with the way we have handled your information request and/or
ask us to review our decision.

If you would like to complain about the way we have handled your request
or ask for our decision to be reviewed please contact:
