GMC involvement in a partnership venture between the UK Government and the World Economic Forum

A. I. Clayton made this Freedom of Information request to General Medical Council Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear General Medical Council,

In January 2019 a partnership between the UK Government (specifically the then, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (DBIS), which subsequently, in 2023 became sub-divided into, the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT)) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) was announced.

Activities resulting from this partnership between the UK Government and the WEF relate to "excellence in regulation" and "the next regulation revolution".

Some projects which have arisen as a result of the partnership relate very specifically to issues concerning, involving and affecting the medical profession and services. With this in mind therefore, please provide me with details of:

(1) related projects in which the General Medical Council (GMC) and/or members of GMC staff have been involved either directly and/or indirectly.

(2) grants, funding, sponsorships or the like, which have been received by the GMC and/or GMC staff, in relation to the above.

I look forward to hearing from you soon in these respects.

Yours faithfully,

A. I. Clayton
