GMC FTP cases with obvious religious element

Helen Bright made this Freedom of Information request to General Medical Council

The request was partially successful.

Dear General Medical Council,

There are cases of doctors appearing before GMC which have an obvious religious element. Not all doctors are equal when it comes to being agents for social change and some certainly annoy religious lot to such an extent they are reported to GMC with false allegations.

1.In cases like that is it not true that it is left to GMC staff such as investigators to themselves declare and deal with their conflicts of interests due to their own religious beliefs?

2. Failure to declare conflicts of interests is a disciplinary matter and my question is have there ever been any cases that investigator was found failing to declare religious conflict of interests?

Yours faithfully,

Helen Bright

Dear Mark Ellen (0161 923 6347),

Is it possible to answer my first question which is is it left to GMC investigation staff to declare their own conflicts of interests with respect to religion?

Yours sincerely,
