Glyphosate usage
Dear Castle Rock Edinvar Housing Association Limited,
I am writing to make a freedom of information request under the Freedom of Information Act.
Please can you confirm your housing association's policy on the use of glyphosate weedkiller at your properties. Please can you confirm whether glyphosate is sprayed at your properties, and if so, the brand of glyphosate weedkiller which the housing association sprays.
It would also be good if you could provide the quantity of glyphosate used in the most recent year for which data is available.

Thank you for your request for information of 05 July 2023.
Your request has been processed and considered under the terms of the
Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. The information requested is
provided below.
• Please can you confirm your housing association's policy on the use of
glyphosate weedkiller at your properties.
Places for People Scotland uses a Glyphosate based chemical on the
contract to control weeds in shrub areas, hedge lines, hard standing and
gravel areas.
• Please can you confirm whether glyphosate is sprayed at your
properties, and if so, the brand of glyphosate weedkiller which the
housing association sprays.
Places for People Scotland uses Roundup Proactive.
• It would also be good if you could provide the quantity of glyphosate
used in the most recent year for which data is available.
The total amount of Roundup Proactive used on the GM contract in the
period June 2022 to June 2023 is 125.5 litres.
Please note we also use Paradise in the 1st spray of the season. Paradise
is a long lasting non-selective total weed killer that is used for pre and
post emergent control of a wide variety of weeds, it will control most
annual and perennial weeds for unto 6 months
Please note that this response constitutes full release under the Freedom
of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
