Gift Register for HWU
Dear Heriot-Watt University,
Please provide details of all registered gifts/hospitality for Heriot-Watt University executives, members of the University Court and committees of the University Court, including but not limited to information on the value, provenance, and recipient of said gifts/hospitality. I would like all records regarding this, going back in time for as long as records exist.
Furthermore, I would also like a full list of all charitable donations received by the university in the past 10 years with value >£1000, including but not limited to information on the donor, value, and reason for the donation.
Yours faithfully,
J. Dennis

Dear applicant
Thank you for your information request dated the 29^th October 2019 which
has been handled under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
(FOISA).
As requested I enclose a copy of the Corporate Gift Register with entries
dating back to 20112. This is in compliance with our ethical business
policies all of which can be found on our website.
I also include a list of donations made over the past 10 years as
requested. Where individuals have donated sums, we are the releasing
details for the donation and the amounts. We have not however released
the names of the majority of individual donors because: we either do not
have their consent to release their names to a third party; they do not
expect to have their names published on a random website; or indeed,
because they wish to remain anonymous as is their right. We consider
their names as personal information and so exempt from release under
Section 38(1)(b) of FOISA. Where a company has made a donation, then it
has been disclosed.
Your right to seek review of our decision
If you are not satisfied with our response or our reasoning set-out above,
you have forty working days from today in which to request a review of our
decision. Any request should be put in writing and should be sent to Ann
Jones, Head of Information Governance, at the address detailed at the
bottom of this email. The request should:
(a) detail your request for a review of our decision to be undertaken;
(b) describe the nature of your original request; and
(c) explain the reasons why you are dissatisfied with our response.
If you remain dissatisfied with how your request for information has been
dealt with, you also have the right to apply to the Scottish Information
Commissioner for a decision as to whether we have handled your request
properly.
